The Get Active Kids Voucher Program is now open!

We are pleased to let you know that we are a Get Active Kids Voucher Program Activity Provider and Round 10 is open! Get in quick as applications for a voucher will close at 10am on 2 April or earlier if the budget allocation is fully exhausted.

If your family or child has a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, you may be eligible for up to $200 to put towards the cost of your child’s registration and membership fees at our club

Important Dates:

Round 10 open to apply for a voucher or reimbursement: 10am Tuesday, 3 March 2026 and will close 10am on 2 April or earlier if the budget allocation is fully exhausted.

Reimbursement expenditure dates: from 1 January 2026 to submission of application

Don’t forget to join us this Sunday for an exciting T20 Charity Match as the Notting Hill Cricket Club goes head to head with Ben’s Hawks in a special community event.

Come along for an afternoon filled with cricket, live music, special guests, family friendly activities, games, and entertainment for all ages. There will also be raffles and live auctions, proudly hosted by the team at Ray White Judd White Glen Waverley, featuring some amazing prizes!

We’ll also have a great selection of food trucks on site, and our canteen will be open serving a variety of tasty treats!

All funds raised will support the Austin family as they establish a foundation in Ben’s name, dedicated to helping grieving families and providing sporting opportunities for siblings following the loss of a school aged child.

🏏 BENNY’S BIG BASH - T20 CHARITY MATCH 🏏

We’re pleased to announce that the Waverley Park Hawks Junior Football Club and the Notting Hill Brandon Park Cricket Club are joining forces to host a Charity T20 cricket match to honour our much loved friend and team mate Ben Austin.

We invite you to join us on Sunday 8th of February at Columbia Reserve, Wheelers Hill from 1pm to 5pm as we come together to support the Austin family.

The day will be about more than cricket, the sport that Benny dearly loved — it will be about connection, remembrance, community, and giving back.

Alongside the T20 match, there will be special guests, activities, games, and entertainment for all ages, making it a great day out for families, friends, and supporters.

All funds raised on the day will go towards supporting the Austin family as they build a foundation in Ben's name that will support grieving families and provide sporting opportunities for their siblings, following the loss of a school age child.

The Waverley Park Hawks will be fielding teams for girls and boys from Under 8's to Under 18's.

The Early Bird registration fee is $255, made up of $195 WPH club fee + $60 SMJFL affiliation fee. Your registration fee includes a FREE training t-shirt, yearbook and use of a playing jumper, to be returned at the end of the season.

In 2026, the WP Hawks are offering FREE* registration for all U8 to U9 male and U8 to U11 female players who are NEW to the club (*SMJFL affiliation fee of $60 still applies). Please contact Felicity Regan on registrar@wphawks.org.au to receive your unique discount code before registering via PlayHQ.

The club is also offering a 20% discount on club registration fees for all siblings of registered players. which reduces the fee per child to $216 ($156 club fee + $60 SMJFL fee). The discount will be automatically applied to subsequent player registrations made by the same account holder in Play HQ.

Eligible families can also apply for a $200 Get Active Kids Voucher and use them at the club without having to worry about upfront costs. The Waverley Park Hawks Provider number is 3287638. Voucher numbers can be added at the bottom of the checkout page upon registration.

In recent years, our Committee has been run largely by parents of players in the older age groups. As many of those players finish their junior careers, it is time for some long-serving parents to step back. This season only operated thanks to several committee members taking on multiple roles—something that is not sustainable. With more long-term members finishing up this year, we are now looking for the next wave of parents to help keep our great club thriving.

We currently have several major Committee roles vacant, including President and VP Football Administration, and we will also need a Canteen Manager for the 2026 season. There are also a number of non-committee positions that require some pre-season preparation but then only 1–2 hours per week during the season. These include roles such as Administration Assistant, Club Statistician, Team Manager Coordinator, Grounds or Equipment Manager, and After-Match Coordinator.

If you and your kids love our club, we encourage you to consider taking on a Committee role or supporting the club in one of the smaller positions. The more people who step forward, the more manageable the workload becomes for everyone.

The Waverley Park Hawks will be fielding teams for girls and boys from Under 8's to Under 18's.

The Early Bird registration fee is $255, made up of $195 WPH club fee + $60 SMJFL affiliation fee. Your registration fee includes a FREE training t-shirt, yearbook and use of a playing jumper, to be returned at the end of the season.

In 2026, the WP Hawks are offering FREE* registration for all U8 to U9 male and U8 to U11 female players who are NEW to the club (*SMJFL affiliation fee of $60 still applies). Please contact Felicity Regan on registrar@wphawks.org.au to receive your unique discount code before registering via PlayHQ.

The club is also offering a 20% discount on club registration fees for all siblings of registered players. which reduces the fee per child to $216 ($156 club fee + $60 SMJFL fee). The discount will be automatically applied to subsequent player registrations made by the same account holder in Play HQ.

Eligible families can also apply for a $200 Get Active Kids Voucher and use them at the club without having to worry about upfront costs. The Waverley Park Hawks Provider number is 3287638. Voucher numbers can be added at the bottom of the checkout page upon registration.

Hi Hawks Families

I have spoken to the Austin family this morning, and they wanted to express their gratitude for the outstanding support that our club and the wider community has provided during these tragic times. The family is blown away from the support for Ben across the whole country and that they are drawing strength from the love and care that is being shown towards their boy Benny.

I assured Ben's dad Jace this morning that our club will never forget Benny. He will always be in our hearts and his story will be told to generations of Hawks kids and families forever.

As you may be aware, our club established a Go Fund Me page with Ferntree Gully Cricket Club to raise money for the family. An earlier fund was also setup by one of Ben's team mates, Dylan Mitchell and Shanae Veal. I am so proud to report to you that between the two funds, we are rapidly approaching the $100k mark which is absolutely unbelievable.

Whilst no amount of money can bring Ben back to his family and friends, the sheer weight of donations shows the love that ours and the wider community feel for Ben. I have spent time scrolling through the donors and our mighty club is so well represented. There are many families who have made large contributions that are so valued.

What I am super proud of is the many younger members of our community (our players and Ben's friends) who have donated themselves from their own funds. Ben would be absolutely chuffed that so many people love him. We hear so much negativity sometimes about the youth of today, but our kids do themselves proud and are credit to you all.

On behalf of our Committee and Members, thank you so much for your donations, kind words, messages and phone calls. I know that we are all feeling sad at this terrible time, but our community will continue to rally and support Ben's memory and family.

It is with great sadness that The Waverley Park Hawks JFC announce the passing of one of our beloved senior players, Ben Austin.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Austin family during this difficult time and send all our love to Jace, Tracey, Cooper and Zach.

Our thoughts are also with Ben’s teammates, in both football and cricket, his extended family, friends and schoolmates at the Rowville Sports Academy.

Ben was a kind, respectful, popular and much loved player at our club. He supported his team mates and was a support to all of the kids that he played with. He had a wide network of great friends who will miss him dearly. Ben loved the Hawks and played over 100 games for our club, he was a true Hawks man who was universally loved by the players, coaches and parents. This culminated in him winning the Runner Up Best and Fairest and Best Finals Player in 2025.

We will miss him immensely in seasons to come. Our club and community have lost a truly great young person who was developing into a fine young adult and his loss will be felt keenly by our club for many years to come.

Ben was not only a fantastic footballer, he was also an exceptional cricketer, playing for the Ferntree Gully Cricket Club and Rowville Sports Academy in their Senior Cricket team. He was a wonderful all round athlete and loved by all who knew him.

We will keep our community informed of funeral arrangements and how we can support Ben's family and friends in these difficult days ahead. We will also announce in time about how we can remember and honour Ben's contribution, example and legacy that he set for the rest of the club to follow.

We would also like to let our community know that our Child Support Officer Kristine is available if any of our members require further support or help to access services.

Our Incident Officer Amy is also a counsellor and works for headspace and is available to take calls from parents or kids if they need to speak to someone.

The girls were walking in the parade with the AFLW footy players as a nod to the current and emerging stars. This was also in recognition of the Waverly Park Hawks JFC's commitment to the Gender Equity Education Program and Women & Girls Community Football Charter.

Congrats to our three marvellous teams who competed in the GRAND FINAL on Sunday. Unfortunately it just wasn’t our day and all our teams went down in the finale.

At After Match, we farewelled those teams who have now have played their last games for the season and for some players, it was their last game for our club.

A huge congratulations to our U16 Girls Hipwell team, U17.5 Boys Wyllie team and U18 Girls Blues team on a superb season performance making it all the way through to the Big Dance. A big achievement in itself, and we are very proud of you all. To all your coaches, officials and support crew a big thanks to you too on a great season.

We’d also like to thank the huge amount of club members that came down to all the games. It was so wonderful to see so many Hawks colours around the grounds cheering them on loudly! And don’t worry, we saw the @waverleybluesfc supporters too 🔵🔴⚪️

A highlight of the day was the celebration of Charlotte Fairbairn’s 100th game! How awesome to have your 100th in a GRAND FINAL. We can’t take all the credit as Charlotte has joined us this season from the Waverley Blues, but we’re glad to have been apart of it!

Congrats to our three marvellous teams who competed in the GRAND FINAL on Sunday. Unfortunately it just wasn’t our day and all our teams went down in the finale.

The kids can have a kick on the oval under lights and presentations will commence around 6:30pm where we will acknowledge all medal and award winners for the round.

There will also be the famous players draw for all WPHawks players in attendance and our raffle.
